NPR Sunday Puzzle focuses on U.S. geography
Listeners must identify 13 American locations based on two-word clues, with a separate body-part challenge running through Friday.

The National Public Radio show 'Sunday Puzzle' aired a geography challenge on November 1, 2026. The segment required participants to identify 13 specific locations within the United States.
Each answer is a two-word name for a city, state, river, or mountain. The first letters of the provided clues match the first letters of the target answers. A single exception involves a three-word answer regarding a large population in Minnesota.
The clues cover diverse geographic features and cultural associations. Prompts include 'Northeast Haven,' 'Pioneers' Pinnacle,' and 'Storied Fire.' Other items reference 'Molten Lava,' 'Oil Capital,' and 'Lotsa Vacationers.' The list concludes with 'Port Honolulu,' 'Engineered Channel,' and 'Health Spa.'
The broadcast also reviewed the previous week's challenge. That puzzle asked for two well-known company logos that begin with a lowercase letter and contain a capital 'B.' The correct answers were eBay and jetBlue. Deborah Freedman of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was named the winner of that segment.
A new challenge launched alongside the geography list. This puzzle asks listeners to combine a three-letter body part with a four-letter body part to form a supermarket brand name. Participants must submit their answers by 3 p.m. ET on Thursday, November 5, 2026.
Listeners who submit valid answers by the deadline may be selected to play the puzzle on air. Submissions must include a phone number for contact. The current copyright holder for the material is NPR.
