Heidi Klum's severed hand costume took four months to build

Heidi Klum arrived at her 25th annual Halloween party on Saturday, November 1, 2026, wearing a giant severed human hand.

The event took place in New York. Klum, who is 53 years old, spent four months constructing the costume. The design featured dangling tendons and ligaments at the bloody wrist. Her eyes and mouth were visible through the skin of the hand. The prop included a red manicure and replicas of her engagement and wedding rings.

Klum first hosted this party in 2002. Over the last two decades, she has worn costumes depicting Fiona from Shrek, a peacock, a giant worm, E.T., and Medusa. The 2026 gathering marked the 25th edition of the celebration.

Helpers in yellow hazmat suits and black face masks assisted Klum onto the red carpet. The outfits were splattered with blood. She posed with three of her children, Lou, Johan, and Leni, for photographs.

Klum discussed the design process with People. She said she looked at her own hand and wondered if she could fit inside a hand. She then considered using her fingers as legs. "Then my arms could be more fingers and I could put my body in there somehow, so that's what I proposed to [makeup designer Mike Marino]," she said.

The model keeps her previous costumes. She stated that people assume the outfits go into the garbage, but they do not. "I come out of this, it's not completely ruined, they all get stored and they are all in a box in storage," she said.

The party continues with a star-studded lineup of guests on the red carpet.
