The Washington Commanders erased a first-quarter deficit to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles 27-10 on Sunday Night Football. The victory improved Washington's record to 2-4-1 and marked the team's first comeback win of the season. Philadelphia, now 2-6, has lost six consecutive games while managing the absence of quarterback Jalen Hurts and other key personnel.
The Eagles led 10-0 after the first quarter. Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels completed 16 of 29 passes for 217 yards and one touchdown. He was not intercepted and scrambled for 23 yards on two carries. The Commanders built an 11-0 advantage in the fourth quarter to secure the lead. Backup quarterback Tanner McKee started for Philadelphia and struggled to manage the offense late in the game.
Running back Saquon Barkley appeared limited by injury concerns that preceded the matchup. He finished with 30 yards on 13 carries and 24 yards on one reception. Backup Elijah Mitchell handled 11 carries in Barkley's absence. The Eagles may need to manage their star player more carefully as the season progresses.
The NFC East race remains unsettled. The New York Giants lead the division at 4-2-1 after a bye week. Their future outlook depends on whether rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart can sustain performance. The Giants are testing J.J. McCarthy in a starter role to assess his potential for reviving his career.
The Dallas Cowboys sit at 3-5 after dropping a home game to the Arizona Cardinals. That team is led by quarterback Gardner Minshew. The loss of a major lead at home suggests the Cowboys are not in a strong position. Washington is still defining its identity under Daniels, who has not yet matched the level of play seen in his rookie season. Philadelphia is surviving amid injury issues, while the division leader faces uncertainty regarding its quarterback situation.
