The Seattle Seahawks defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 27-19 on Sunday night in a Week 7 matchup that ended the Chiefs' perfect start to the 2026 season.

The result marked the first loss for Kansas City this year. The Seahawks, who entered the game with a struggling offense, found success through their quarterback, Sam Darnold. Darnold completed 20 of 28 passes for 257 yards and one touchdown. He did not get sacked, a notable improvement after he had been sacked five times in each of his previous two games. He did, however, throw his eighth interception in his last five games during the final seconds of the first half.

The game featured a historic performance by Jaxon Smith-Njigba. The wide receiver finished with 129 receiving yards in the first half alone. That total is the most in any half of his career and the most by a Seahawk in a single half since Tyler Lockett recorded 133 yards in 2020. Smith-Njigba now leads the NFL with 867 receiving yards and eight receiving touchdowns. According to ESPN Research, he is the first player in the Super Bowl era to reach at least 850 receiving yards and eight receiving touchdowns in his team's first seven games of a season.

Kansas City's offense struggled to find rhythm, particularly through the air. The Chiefs' receiving corps managed just 39 combined yards on six receptions. The group included Xavier Worthy, rookie Cyrus Allen, Justin Watson, Andrew Armstrong, and Jalen Royals. Rashee Rice sat out with a strained right hamstring, and Tyquan Thornton remained on injured reserve following ankle surgery. This lack of production has intensified the narrative that the Chiefs' front office, led by general manager Brett Veach, should look to acquire additional receiving help before the trade deadline on November 10.

The defensive effort by Seattle neutralized the Chiefs' ground game. Kenneth Walker III, who entered the week leading the league with 665 rushing yards, was held to 36 yards on 14 carries. The Seahawks utilized two deep safeties for most of the game and did not allow a single run of 10 yards or more. Walker became the first Super Bowl MVP to play for his former team in the following season. Patrick Mahomes threw for 165 yards and recorded a season-low six fantasy points. He has not thrown a touchdown in his last two games.

Elsewhere on the Week 7 slate, the Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the New Orleans Saints in the NFL's first game played in France. Jaylen Warren carried the ball 18 times for 101 yards in that victory. The Detroit Lions defeated the Green Bay Packers, with Detroit's defense holding Green Bay to 17 points and 5-of-15 on third down. Brian Branch, who recently returned to the lineup, forced a turnover. The Lions' Jameson Williams caught two touchdown passes, making him the third player this season with multiple receiving touchdowns in consecutive games.

The Los Angeles Rams beat the Las Vegas Raiders in their first game without Davante Adams, who is out for five to nine weeks with a hamstring injury. Kyren Williams and Puka Nacua led the offensive effort for Los Angeles. The Denver Broncos beat the Arizona Cardinals, although Denver's offense remains inefficient on third down, going 3-for-11 on Sunday. The Seattle Seahawks will play the Chicago Bears on Monday, November 2, at 8:15 p.m. ET. The Chiefs will travel to the Denver Broncos on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET.
