Brewers' first title reshapes odds, but Dodgers remain front-runners for 2027
Bookmakers shortened Milwaukee's odds following their NLCS victory, yet financial powerhouses in Los Angeles and New York retain the edge for next season.

Sportsbooks now list the Milwaukee Brewers as the second-favorite to win the 2027 World Series, trailing only the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Brewers entered the 2026 postseason as a club that had never won a championship. Their run to the title on Wednesday altered their standing in the market. They previously exited early in October during the last few seasons. Those early departures against strong opponents had kept their odds high. The sweep of the Dodgers in the National League Championship Series changed that perception. The team moved from a long shot to a serious contender in the eyes of oddsmakers.
DraftKings currently lists the Dodgers at +310 to win the 2027 title. The Brewers follow at +500. The New York Yankees sit in third at +700. Other books show slight variations in the lower tiers. DraftKings places the Boston Red Sox at 11-1. The Philadelphia Phillies and Seattle Mariners stand at 18-1. BetMGM and Caesars Sportsbook list the Atlanta Braves at 13-1 and 16-1, respectively. The Tampa Bay Rays are priced at 22-1 by DraftKings. This figure represents a major shift from the 80-1 odds they held at the start of the 2026 regular season. The Chicago White Sox, another surprise performer this year, stand at 30-1, down from 500-1 at the season's start. The San Francisco Giants, who were viewed as potential contenders earlier, now sit at 200-1. The Colorado Rockies hold the longest odds at 500-1.
Johnny Avello, director of sports operations at DraftKings, stated that the Brewers' recent performance instilled confidence in their October capabilities. He noted that previous rosters did not translate well in the postseason. Eric Biggio, head of baseball at Caesars, agreed that the head-to-head victory over Los Angeles cemented Milwaukee's status as a championship-caliber team. Despite this shift, bookmakers continue to favor the Dodgers and Yankees due to their financial resources. A representative from BetMGM pointed to the current talent and the ability to add more players during the offseason. Biggio ranked the Los Angeles and New York teams as favorites to win their respective leagues based on market support. Avello added that early odds account for potential offseason moves. The two powerhouses have a history of acting aggressively when opportunities arise. A contentious collective bargaining agreement negotiation is expected to take place this offseason, which could influence these projections.
The Brewers and Rays built their rosters with payrolls in the bottom half of the league. This financial constraint contrasts with the spending habits of the Dodgers and Yankees. The market reflects this disparity in the current lines. The Brewers' first title has adjusted their outlook, but the financial gap remains a key factor in the 2027 predictions.
