David Langston, 41, died after a wrong-way driver struck his motorcycle on US-70 in Goldsboro.

Goldsboro police reported that Langston was traveling westbound near North William Street when the collision occurred. The driver, Edward Stewart, 83, was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, reckless driving, and driving the wrong way on a dual-lane highway. Stewart is scheduled to appear in court in December.

Peggy Craft, Langston's mother, described her son as a dedicated provider who prioritized his 10-year-old son, Dylan. Craft stated that Langston gave his full attention to his child and worked hard to support him. She noted that he was a mechanic in Goldsboro known for his positive attitude and willingness to assist others.

Craft said, “He was the best person you could ever meet.” She added, “He would give the shirt off his back.” According to Craft, Langston loved his son with all his heart and spent as much time with Dylan as possible.

The family has established a GoFundMe page to help support Dylan. Craft said the boy has a large support system. Her primary goal is to ensure Dylan understands who his father was and the extent of the community's love for him.
