Hispanic voter participation in Mecklenburg County has already exceeded the previous midterm cycle.
State voting data through Oct. 31 records 16,137 Hispanic ballots cast in Mecklenburg County. This total surpasses the 11,141 Hispanic voters who participated in the entire 2022 midterm election. Election Day is still upcoming for these voters.
The demographic breakdown reveals distinct patterns in who is turning out. Women cast approximately 60% of the Hispanic ballots. Younger voters also represent a large share of the turnout. More than 9,000 Hispanic voters were between the ages of 18 and 40, accounting for about 56% of the total. This group includes 4,323 voters aged 18 to 25 and 4,722 voters aged 26 to 40.
Political affiliation data from the early voting period shows registered Democrats holding the largest share. They cast 8,407 ballots. Unaffiliated voters accounted for 6,404 ballots, while 1,249 registered Republicans cast their votes. Hispanic voters made up approximately 5.4% of the 299,003 total ballots cast in the county during this period.
Democrats are seeking to build a blue wave in the Tuesday elections. Their strategy relies on winning back Hispanic voters who shifted toward the Republican Party in the 2024 presidential election. The current early voting numbers suggest a strong showing for this demographic in the 2026 midterms.
